After 15+ years following the Cairns Art Society https://cairnsartsociety.com/ I can say it's one of the best things going for visual arts in North Queensland. Founded in 1931, they've kept the spirit alive with partnerships like Tanks Arts Centre for big shows and awards. The diversity in mediums—painting, sculpture, even found-object work—is impressive. Events like the portrait prize and botanicals workshops add real value. It's not perfect (some admin things move slowly), but the passion from members shines through. If you care about regional creativity, support this society!
